Alexander Kalliades

Head of Housing Department

Alexander qualified as a Solicitor at Burke Niazi in 2018 having developed expertise in mental health, mental capacity, housing and community care issues. He has acted for clients in complex Court of Protection cases including those in the High Court involving an international element.

In 2020 Alexander joined Harrow Law Centre where he developed a thriving housing practice. Alexander has expertise in representing clients in relation to homelessness appeals, possession claims and unlawful evictions. He also advises clients regarding housing condition claims. Alexander is a specialist in homeless reviews and appeals where he has helped clients successfully challenge non priority need, end of relief duty and other local authority decisions.

Alexander has acted for clients in the High Court in judicial review claims against local authorities to ensure that they comply with their homelessness duties. Alexander has extensive experience of acting for clients in housing cases in the County Court. He has helped tenants obtain compensation for disability discrimination under the Equality Act, unlawful eviction and housing conditions (disrepair) claims. He often acts for clients who have experienced mental health issues to achieve important outcomes such as suitable rehousing or dismissal of a possession claim.

Alexander returned to Burke Niazi Solicitors in January 2024 where he will focus on housing, Court of Protection and community care cases.

Alexander enjoys tennis, dog walks and salsa dancing in his spare time.
