Anna Stinton

Solicitor

Anna joined the firm as a paralegal in the Mental Health department in 2014. She completed her training in the Mental Health, Housing, and Family departments, before qualifying as a solicitor in the Family department in September 2017.

Anna represents clients in a range of family law matters and she is a member of the Law Society’s Children Accreditation Scheme.. Anna has considerable experience in representing parents and extended family members in child protection matters, where the local authority is involved with a family. Anna has experience in representing parents in PLO and care proceedings where concerns relate to mental ill-health, domestic abuse, substance misuse and neglect. Anna also has experience in cases where one parent has caused the death of the other parent. Anna has experience in representing clients who lack litigation capacity as a result of their mental ill-health. Her membership to the Law Society Mental Health Accreditation Scheme greatly assists her in these cases.

Anna frequently advises prospective Special Guardians. She is expanding her practice to include advising alternative families on issues such as adoption and surrogacy arrangements.

Anna also has experience in domestic violence work, child arrangements orders, divorce, and financial arrangements. Anna has experience in dealing with cases with an international element. Successful cases include the relocation of a family to elsewhere in the EU; permission granted for a holiday to a non-Hague Convention country; and the inclusion of properties in multiple jurisdictions as matrimonial assets in financial proceedings. Anna has secured orders for costs against opponents when their conduct within the proceedings made this appropriate.

Anna regularly volunteers at the Central Family Court CAB service, advising on issues of divorce, child arrangements issues, and financial proceedings.

Anna has maintained ties with the Mental Health department and continues to advise clients subject to the provisions of the Mental Health Act 1983. Anna became a member of the Law Society Mental Health Accreditation Scheme in 2016 and continues to represent clients at Mental Health Tribunals as well as Hospital Managers’ Hearings. She has experience in representing clients detained under both civil and forensic sections.

Anna is a ‘Recommended Lawyer’ in the 2022 and 2023 editions of The Legal 500.

Outside of work, Anna enjoys travelling and running.
