Eram has been working in the field of Child Protection for over 20 years. She began working in-house in a London Local Authority and subsequently worked for a private law firm where she was able to represent parents whilst also continuing to conduct Care/Supervision cases and Placement Applications for Local Authorities and also advise on Special Guardianship Applications. She also advised Parents and Local Authority clients on the Public Law Outline and attended meetings for either party, worked on FDAC cases from its Pilot stage, and attended Child Protection Conferences. She then became an Accredited Member of the Children Panel and, on different cases, was able to represent the applicant, or the respondent parents and children in care cases. This unique position trained Eram to be able to take a balanced approach to her cases whilst having acquired the knowledge and skills to represent any party comprehensively.
She is now a supervisor and assists in the supervision and training of her colleagues.
Eram has an interest and expertise in representing parents within complex Care, Placement and Deprivation of Liberty proceedings in all levels of court up to and including the Court of Appeal. She has extensive experience of cases involving a wide range of child protection concerns including serious non accidental injuries, inappropriate physical chastisement, sexual abuse, parental drug and alcohol use, children with particularly complex needs such as transgender issues and alleged religious extremism or where children are thought to be at risk of radicalisation.
Where possible and when appropriate Eram undertakes her own advocacy, taking the view that having the solicitor with conduct and full knowledge of a case at court during hearings can often be helpful and reassuring to clients at what will always be a particularly difficult time and assists in achieving the best possible outcome for the client.
