Gary became a member of the Law Society Mental Health Accreditation Scheme in 2003. He qualified as a solicitor in 2004.

Gary is an experienced advocate having successfully represented clients detained under sections 2, 3, 17A, 37, 37/41 and 47/49 before the Tribunal.

He acted successfully for the claimant in KB and Others v Mental Health Review Tribunal, 2003 EWHC 193 Admin - unreasonable delay and right to a speedy hearing.

He has represented forensic service users detained in low, medium and secure hospitals.

Gary has experience in representing service users suffering from personality disorder, anorexia, mood disorder, schizophrenia, learning disability and mental impairment (through brain damage). He has represented both elderly service users and children detained under the MHA.

Gary has also undertaken Court of Protection work representing the interests of severely disabled clients.
