Child Care Proceedings

We handle and advise on all aspects of contact, residence, financial support and parental responsibility following the breakdown of a marriage or relationship. We will make sure that you and your children are treated fairly if your former partner tries to evade or change their obligations or enforce their will to your disadvantage or that of your children.

If Social Services or the Police have concerns about your children, you should contact us immediately. This may be because they think your children are at risk in some way or out of your control. They can ask for the court to make orders relating to taking them into care, their supervision and their education. We will make sure that your rights, and those of your children, are respected and advise and accompany you to any child protection case conferences arranged by the local authority. If your child is taken into care or placed on an ‘at risk’ register, we can explain what it means and what action you need to take.

Sometimes, the local authority may take the matter to court. We will represent you and make sure that the court is aware of your views. We will call expert witnesses if we think that this will help your child and make sure that the authority does not forget that, so long as it is in his/her best interests, they should make every effort to keep your child within your family environment.
